Coming to the end

Hospice is finally on board and Chuck is on oxygen. He's had a high fever the last couple of days that we have been trying to keep at bay. It keeps going up and down.

Our goal is keep him comfortable so every few hours we work to get the "comfort" medications into him. His breathing is labored. All of the signs are evident that time is getting shorter....

The kids (who are all grown up) have been wonderful as we all stay vigil by his side. It's good to be together at this time. We all sit around him and just watch him breath. He wakes occassionally and it seems likes he's trying to say something but he can only communicate through his eyes, now. The boys talk to him often. They have been incredibly strong, Chuck would be proud of the how they are taking care of him and me.

He is our "Superman" and fighting to the end.....he will forever be in hearts...

Our sincere thanks to all of you for your loving support......

Dayna, It was wonderful to be with everyone on Friday, time just seemed to go by too fast and with everyone there we really didn't get to tell Chuck just how much we love him and the family. I have to tell you Brando is one hell of a guy! He has amazed us at work and we want you both to know that you are all family to us and we will take care of Brandon and be there for him and you also. I know you guys are proud of him and rightfully so. Give Chuck and big hug from Nancy and me and know he will always be in our hearts. It was a true honor to have know him and worked with him these past few years. We'll do our best to keep Chucks dream alive. It just will never be the same without him.

    Dayna, Drew and Brandon,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Chuck was a truly good man and I know loved each and every one of you with all his heart. He was so proud of his family, it showed from every fiber of his being. His pain is over but I hope the wonderful memories of your wonderful husband and father help you through this difficult time. God Bless and keep you all.

Dayna, Drew, Brandon, Bud, Nancy, Damon, Cheryl and the extended family - I am so sorry for your loss. Just as the day we found out he was sick, we are all walking around in a weeping fog. I hope you all know how much he loved all of you. I know he was a quiet man and sometimes a man of few words but believe me when I say that he made it very clear how he adored his family and that Dayna was the love of his life. He was so proud of his boys but was afraid he didn't show it very well. Dayna said it best, he's your superman and I think someone has great plans for this super man. Bless you all and know we are here to help wherever and whenever we can. Love Nancy

    Dayna,
Over sixteen years ago, I met Chuck behind the counter at 3-D when he helped with my supply orders for the P.D. Throughout the years, I could always depend on his professionalism to steer me in the right direction. Shortly before he left KOP, he told me how excited he was to finally pursue his dream and work for Wimmer, and how he couldn't wait to be reunited with you in S.C. When I walked into Wimmer the first time two years ago, it seemed so natural to see him behind the counter. It was like old times, and time stood still. Chuck was so happy to be at Wimmer, and was so proud and loved you and the boys! Chuck truly fought this battle courageously to stay with you and the boys, and now his passing is just too soon. I think of how he has touched so many hearts, that he will be forever in our hearts when we think of him. Our Angel will be missed. I extend my thoughts and prayers to you, Drew, Brandon, Meg and to the rest of Chuck's family. Kathy Oberg.

The Old Coots on Scoots Chapter 32 would like you to know that our hearts and prayers are with your family in this tough time. Chuck had become a friend to many of us, just as his father Bud and son Brandon. God Bless you all and be with you in this time of loss and may we see Chuck again in the future riding that highway in the sky.
